The Lewella Centre offers small meditation huts and an open hall (can be used for walking meditation, for practice yoga) for self retreat, situated on a hill with a beautiful view over the Mahaweli river valley .The huts are bungalow type buildings provided with electricity, water and an attached toilet. And two rooms available at the main building with a shared bathroom.
Residential stay is possible for male meditators of any Buddhist meditation tradition. The main building of the centre houses a well-stocked library, a meditation hall and a room for Yoga exercises. Residential meditators are also welcome for the yoga classes if they like or individual yoga classes also can be arranged on arrival or by reservations with Mahesha.
Charges:
The daily rate to assist in meeting the center’s expenditure is LKR 1000/- for stay at the main center and for stay in a self retreat hut
(If your stay exceeds more than a month daily rate is LKR 800/-)
Meals:
Two simple vegetarian meals (mostly rice and curry Sri lankan style and sometimes some Indian meals also provided for breakfast) are provided for Breackfast and Lunch, and residents are welcome to use the kitchen to make their tea.
Meal Time:
Breakfast is at 08.30 A.M
Lunch is at 12.30 Noon
Library:
The Lewella meditation centre owns a good collection of books at the main building. (Including Buddhist teachings (Suttas), Books on meditation, Psychology, and much more, most of them are in English and the libraries do have some German books as well. Residential meditators are welcome to use the library at any time and it is possible to lend the books from the library during the stay at the centre. Visitors also welcome to use the library on reference basis.
What to Bring
Light cotton type clothing, mosquito repellent, an umbrella and a torch. Drinkable water is provided and there is no need for malaria medicines. |
